Match Report: 1s v Lavender Park – 22nd Nov 2014 (County)‏

Sarah W

A slippery court meant a bit of a slow start, despite a much more focused warm up from NUNS.  Everyone’s first steps were rather tentative and it was hard to get a game of good fast flowing netball going.  Both defences were getting tips at each end as everyone struggled to drive at full speed onto the ball.  We managed to hold on and go into the break with a slim lead but we knew there was much more to give.

14-10 to NUNS

A couple of changes were made on both sides and Q2 saw NUNS settle into more free flowing netball with the intention on not letting their team settle and play their preferred style of game.  Some great passages of play and incredible commitment from the nuns to get after every ball saw lots of turnovers and our lead extend as the shooters converted them.

28-17 to NUNS

The third quarter required us to stay focused while they continued to make lots of changes within their squad and our concentration lapsed a little letting them back into the match with great feeding in to their goal shooter.

35-28 to NUNS

A switch up saw Amy come on at GK to mix our defensive game up a little and try to disrupt their shooters.  Lavender Park continued to work hard and had a couple of really good runs making our supporters slightly nervous but we continued to play to max capacity to the final whistle to remain unbeaten in the County League!

45-35 to NUNS

MOM well deserved for Suz
